The Intel Compute Stick is a tiny computer that works similar to the Raspberry Pi 3, however the Intel Compute Stick can run the Windows operating system. The Raspberry Pi 3 is only about $40 (plus additional accessories), while the while the Intel Compute Stick has various models in the $100-$500 range depending on specifications. The Raspberry Pi 3 is a good economical option, but be forewarned that you will have to get familiar with linux based operating system such as the popular Raspbian linux operating system that most people use on the Raspberry Pi. You will also need to spend some extra money on a case, microSD card, HDMI cable, among other things. The Intel Computer Stick comes ready to use as you can just plug in its attached HDMI connection (or use the HDMI extension dongle) to connect directly to your TV or monitor. The one you should get comes down to what operating system you need to work with, for Windows go with the Intel Compute Stick, for Linux go with the Raspberry Pi 3.
Lenovo T460s Review. Should you buy it?
The Lenovo T460s is a low cost business laptop that costs around $1,000. The T460s model is the slim version of its older T460 counterpart. The laptop has a tapered design that gives it a more modern feel. The left side of the laptop is sporting the power connector, one USB 3.0 port, one headphone jack, and an SD card reader. On the right side of the laptop it has a smart card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, mini-Displayport, HDMI port, Ethernet jack, a sim card slot, and a kensington lock slot. The laptop is not user friendly for servicing the laptop requiring removal of five screws to remove the bottom cover. Continue reading Lenovo T460s Review
The HP EliteBook 840 G2 is a great business laptop that should meet the needs of most office users. It has a decent keyboard, not Lenovo quality but good enough. The fingerprint reader actually works pretty well compared to laptops I’ve used in the past. The 14″ screen is a perfect size at 1600×900 resolution to do work on it such as using Outlook full email client, Excel, Word, and general web browsing however I did wish the screen was a little brighter. The screen does suffer however from having bad viewing angles if you are off to the side of the screen and not looking at it directly. The top cover is a fingerprint magnet unfortunately, but on the other hand it provides good grip. The laptop is very user serviceable as the bottom cover easily slides off after unlocking and then pressing a button to slide the cover out. Continue reading HP EliteBook 840 G2 Review
The Lenovo Thinkpad P50 is a 15.6 inch laptop with a spill resistant backlit keyboard and it is also military spec tested. At 15.6 inch laptop it is a big enough laptop for those wanting to do some serious work such as CAD or photo/video editing. Keyboard is excellent and it was a joy typing on it as it almost feels like a full sized keyboard. Trackpad was decent and just did the job. The trackpad is positioned towards the left and is smaller so you have to position the laptop accordingly and I really wished that they would have centered the trackpad. The fingerprint reader worked just fine most of the time. There is also a Pantone color calibration unit so its great for calibrating color for work with Photoshop or video editing with Premiere. The speakers on the laptop were okay, mostly treble and not much mids or bass so I recommend using headphones. The screen on the laptop is excellent as the colors looked great and I found that it was nice and bright. There was also not much flex to the screen and it felt solid. One thing I didn’t really like was the very large power brick that you will have to lug around with you to charge your laptop. Continue reading Lenovo Thinkpad P50 Review
